NFL Picks – Houston vs Cincinnati

The Texans won last week, much to the surprise of many people who made their NFL picks the other way. Who would have thought that Houston and TJ Yates could knock off a good Atlanta team? Some did and they capitalized with their NFL picks. This week, Houston tries to keep it going again when they head up to Cincinnati. The Bengals have been good this year, but they have struggled a little bit lately. Still, on the strength of a good defense and home field advantage, they are a three point favorite in this game. When the Packers and Giants square off this week, many will say that this is the last real chance for Green Bay to lose in the regular season. After all, this is a tough game on the road in a difficult venue. The Giants are hurting and they absolutely have to have a win. After losing to Philly and getting blown out at New Orleans, the Giants are a dangerous team with their back against the wall. But nothing has really slowed down Green Bay this year. The Lions and the Saints are two of the best teams in the NFL. These two franchises used to be laughing stocks. People picked on the Lions for their 0-16 campaign. The Saints were nicknamed the “Aints” because of their struggles over the course of two decades. Things have changed, though. Each team has a good shot at making the playoff this year. When the Lions head down to the Crescent City this weekend, what can we expect? The linesmakers have pegged this one at nine points. Carolina Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Picks

There was a time when Carolina and Tampa Bay would play it out for all the marbles in the NFC South. They were the class of the division, with two great defenses. These days, though, things have changed. Neither team is very good, though they do seem to be going in opposite directions. The Bucs showed some life last season and looked to be headed upward. They looked like a young team that could challenge for a playoff spot this year. The Panthers, meanwhile, had the worst record in football last year and drafted at the top of the draft in April. What should be a great weekend of football culminates on Monday night with a nice game between the Giants and Saints. The Giants come into this game looking a little bit like a mess. They were strong heading into last week, then dropped a primetime game at home to the Eagles. In that one, the Giants couldn’t move the ball and they couldn’t get a big stop when they needed one. The Houston Texans are off of a bye and things are looking much different than they did two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, the Texans were led by the very capable Matt Schaub at quarterback. They were rolling along. Then, Schaub got hurt. The Texans have been forced to re-evaluate some things, going with Matt Leinart at QB. They take to the road this week to face off against Jacksonville, a team they beat handily at home one month ago. So can the Texans get things together and keep winning despite the loss of their QB? NFL Picks – Buffalo Bills at New York Jets

It is not often that a team falls completely off the map like the Buffalo Bills have done. The Bills started with a bang, running out to a nice record. Things have changed, though, and the Bills are no longer the toast of the town. They lost one week ago to the Dolphins in ugly fashion. Beyond that, it looks like the Bills lost arguably their best weapon when Fred Jackson went down for the year with an injury. This week, the team will depend upon C.J. The Patriots struggled in a big way last week. They couldn’t get up for the Giants and they couldn’t consistently move the ball. They had multiple chances to run away with it, but Tom Brady played one of his worst games ever. Now, the team has to run around and play a tough game at a divisional opponent that looked great last week. That is a tough task. The Jets have been playing much better over the last few weeks. They beat the brakes off of Buffalo one week ago and that is something that they are very proud of. Now, they play their biggest game. The New York Giants travel out to the west coast this week to take on a San Francisco team that has been motoring along. The 49ers just keep beating people, using their brand of tough football to control the clock and the run game. Meanwhile, the Giants have been a surprise, too. They went into New England last weekend and shocked a good Patriots team. Can they keep that going on Saturday and knock off the 49ers? That is a tough question to answer, but it is one that we will have to deal with before we can make our NFL picks. NFL Picks – New Orleans vs Atlanta

The Saints come into this game as short favorites, being one point chalk at most books. This is a tough thing to figure, too, since the Falcons are very tough at home. The Saints, though they have looked pretty good this year, have struggled mightily on the road. They played poorly at Tampa Bay and they lost at Green Bay. They have simply struggled to put up points and they have given the ball away an awful lot. Can they go into Atlanta and win a tough game against a team like the Falcons?
