NFL Picks – New Orleans vs Atlanta

The Saints come into this game as short favorites, being one point chalk at most books. This is a tough thing to figure, too, since the Falcons are very tough at home. The Saints, though they have looked pretty good this year, have struggled mightily on the road. They played poorly at Tampa Bay and they lost at Green Bay. They have simply struggled to put up points and they have given the ball away an awful lot. Can they go into Atlanta and win a tough game against a team like the Falcons? The Falcons have proven that they can win in the Georgia Dome, so that is something worth looking out for.

The problem for the Falcons is that they just aren’t that good. This is a team that is living off of last year’s strong record. They have not been able to stop anyone all season. Matt Ryan and company have had trouble getting it going through the air. Michael Turner, who is normally very consistent, hasn’t been himself all year. The whole thing has turned into something of a mess, and their record doesn’t reflect how poorly the Falcons have played a lot of the time. Still, they have an opportunity to do something special in this game. They have an opportunity to grab control of the division and take some steam from New Orleans.

This is a game where you should probably look to the Saints for a strong cover. The line has moved in their favor and they are a stronger team than Atlanta. Though there are some concerns about whether or not the Saints can protect the ball, those concerns are mostly overblown. They will play well in this game, since they normally show up with a lot on the line. Look for that to happen on Sunday and take advantage of that by making your NFL picks on the Saints. The Falcons are going to be exposed at some point this season and this is a good time for that to begin.
