NFL Picks – Buffalo Bills at New York Jets

It is not often that a team falls completely off the map like the Buffalo Bills have done. The Bills started with a bang, running out to a nice record. Things have changed, though, and the Bills are no longer the toast of the town. They lost one week ago to the Dolphins in ugly fashion. Beyond that, it looks like the Bills lost arguably their best weapon when Fred Jackson went down for the year with an injury. This week, the team will depend upon C.J. Spiller to fill the void as it heads into New Jersey to take on a Jets team that is also struggling. 

Some might call this an elimination game of sorts in the AFC East. The loser of this game will find it hard to compete for a playoff spot, especially if that loser is Buffalo. The line here is 9 points, with the Jets obviously being favored at home. So what are the factors that you will want to consider as you handicap this game?

 

One such factor is rest time. The Jets had a tough task going to Denver on Thursday night, but that will repay them this week as they get more time to rest and prepare. The Bills played on Sunday, so there is a nice three day difference there. Additionally there is the fact that the Jets play much better football at home. This team has been up and down, but they have put on some good efforts in front of the home fans. 

 

The Jets beat the Bills handily a couple of weeks ago in Buffalo. They controlled the game in almost every way and escaped with a large victory. If you are making your NFL football picks this week, keep the Jets in mind. The number might seem kind of large at 9, but this is the type of game that the Jets usually win. They could win big, running the Bills off of the field in this one. Don’t take the bait with the added points in this game, as you will need more than just those 9 if you are going to cover this number.
